Uhuru directs Matiang'i to enroll all 3 million secondary school students to NHIF


- President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed that all secondary school students be enrolled to NHIF

- The directive is in line with the president's Big Four growth agenda he announced during Jamhuri Day celebrations

- The President spoke before Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi announced results of the 2017 KCSE results

President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed Education Cabinet Secretary Fed Matiang'i to ensure all secondary school student in the country are enrolled in the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).

Uhuru issued the directive on Wednesday, December 20 before Matiang'i announced the results of the 2017 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

This will be effected from January 2018 to form part of the president's Big Four growth agenda that he announced during Jamhuri Day celebrations as one of his main pillars during his last term in office.

Present were Teachers Service Commission (TSC )Secretary Nancy Macharia, Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) Chairman George Magoha and Education PS Belio Kipsang.

Uhuru also asked the TSC to reward principals, schools and subject teachers who who posted high performance.

He told Matiang'i to collaborate with the Attorney General Githu Muigai to ensure cases of exam cheating are presented to the Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko for immediate action.
