Alleged supporters of NASA alliance pelted mini buses belonging to Wareng bus Sacco on the morning of Tuesday, October 31
- The attack came hours after Jubilee supporters poured out of their homes to celebrate Uhuru's second victory
- Still, rowdy youth in Kericho, believed to be Jubilee supporters recently blocked the main highway to Kisumu protesting alleged attack on their people after IEBC declared Uhuru as the winner
A simmering tension continues to be witnessed across the country after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission declared President Uhuru Kenyatta the winner in the October 26, repeat presidential election.
On Tuesday, October 31, a day after Uhuru was declared the winner, National Super Alliance supporters poured onto the streets along the Kisumu-Kericho road and throwing stones to public transport vehicle plying the route.
Majority of the vehicles destroyed belonged to Wareng Sacco, and the attacks were mainly focused at Awasi Kupere.
According to information reaching us the attacks came hours after Jubilee Party supporters took to the streets to celebrate President Uhuru wining a second term.
It is understood that 7 people were injured in the attacks.
Uhuru's supporters also blocked the main road to Kisumu after alleging that their people were attacked in Chemilil after their preferred candidate won the presidential election.
Uhuru won the election with about 7.3 million votes compared to Raila Odinga's approximately 73,000 votes who withdrew from the race but IEBC maintained his name on the ballot.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission opted to leave Raila's name on the ballot paper after the opposition leader withdrew his candidature from the election.
